Privacy Fence Installation

A privacy fence gives you a secluded backyard, blocks views from the street and neighboring properties, and adds a finished look to your home. Infinity Fence Inc. installs privacy fences in wood and vinyl throughout Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, Cary, and the surrounding Triangle, with the same attention to detail on every project.

Wood Privacy Fences

Wood privacy fences are built on site, from the ground up, which lets us work with slopes and uneven terrain. The pickets are installed side by side on horizontal rails, most often in the dog-eared style. Our standard wood fences use pressure-treated pine, with appearance-grade and select-grade pickets, and posts set in concrete footings. Learn more on our wood fence page.

Because wood is a natural material, you may see some gaps between pickets as the boards shrink and dry. This is normal for pressure-treated lumber. If you want tighter coverage, ask us about board-on-board construction, which closes those gaps.

Vinyl Privacy Fences

Vinyl privacy fences need very little upkeep. They don’t need painting or staining, and they resist warping, checking, and graying. Our vinyl privacy fences use tongue-and-groove pickets, premium double-walled pocket rails where available, and posts with a minimum wall thickness of .150 on standard styles. Sections come in heights from 3 to 12 feet, in standard 6- or 8-foot widths, and in white, grey, clay, or almond. Learn more on our vinyl fence page.

Privacy Fence Styles

  • Privacy: Pickets are installed side by side for a solid line of coverage that blocks views from the street and neighboring yards.
  • Shadowbox: Pickets are installed on both sides of the rails, so both you and your neighbor get a finished look. This style blocks views at an angle while still allowing some airflow.
  • Board-on-board: Overlapping pickets on both sides close all the gaps, for full privacy with no see-through spaces.

Gates for Privacy Fences

Privacy gates can be built with lapped, glued, and screwed wood frames. For larger or heavier gates, we can build steel frames. Hardware options include self-closing hinges and lockable latches.
